BROOKLYN, Mich. -- Ann Arbor Pioneer won the boys Division 1 cross country championship Saturday, and coach Don Sleeman knew right where to put the credit: on his team's depth.

Juniors Nathan Karr finished fifth (15:34.8), Nick Kern 16th (15:46.2) and Adam Kern 25th (15:55.3), and seniors Dan Culbertson was sixth (15:35.8) and David Wallington 30th (16:05.0) on Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.

"They were all so close," said Sleeman, who has coached at Pioneer for more than 40 years. "At various times in the season, my fourth man has been my second man, my third man has been my first man, and my fifth man has been my fourth man.
